In January the Humanitarian Aid Drives of Rinat Akhmetov will deliver half a million food sets to Donbass

09.01.2015

Today, January 9, this year first Humanitarian aid drive of Rinat Akhmetov was forwarded from Dnepropetrovsk to Donetsk. Today the first convoy will deliver for civilians of the region 260 tons of food, these are sugar, macaroni products, cereals, oat flakes. In total the Humanitarian Center is going to send to Donbass 8,000 tons of food products to make 500,000 humanitarian sets in January.

“It is highly important for the Center to realize this plan after blocking of the humanitarian aid drive by the battalions end December. People of Donbass, those vulnerable categories of civilians who get the aid from the Humanitarian Center of Rinat Akhmetov, are waiting for this aid”, comments Maksim Rovinsky, volunteer of the Humanitarian Center of Rinat Akhmetov. “And this is the task that Rinat Akhmetov set to the Center – to provide maximum aid to the civilians. Having such a scope of the Humanitarian aid drive the Center is strictly controlling the quality of the products in the sets. All of the products are certified, and the shelf life of each package is checked. The Center works with proven suppliers only. As for canned fish – this is one of the best trademarks (Akvamarin). In winter conditions the Center planned to replace canned fish with canned meat and thus to enhance energy value of the sets, but this scheme was interrupted by that blocking of the freights in December.”

The day before dispatching the Drive the Humanitarian Center of Rinat Akhmetov sent to Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Automobile Inspectorate, the General Staff, State Security Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Defense, State Emergency Service of Ukraine, ATO Center, and to Dnepropetrovsk Oblast State Administration letters with notification on the drive contents, number of trucks and machine numbers. The trucks are accompanied with necessary documents and transparency protocol.

Before being dispatched the trucks contains and forwarding documents were checked by representatives of Dnepr-1 Battalion with the presence of mass media. Vyacheslav Panchenko, chief of Dnepr-1 Battalion, “We’ve checked everything. The contents of the trucks correspond with the documents. These are really essential food products, such as sugar, cereals, macaroni products for civilians. The freight was sealed before us, and it will be driven without further inspections.”

When delivered to Dondass Arena stadium each piece of the humanitarian aid will be marked with “Humanitarian Aid. Not for Sale” sticker, and then the products will be packed in 14-kilo parcels. Each set contains sugar, flour, sunflower-seed oil, cereals, macaroni products, canned meat and fish, condensed milk, biscuits, canned corn.

The aid is targeted for the most vulnerable categories  of civilians of Regions Donetsk and Lugansk.
