The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation transferred a ventilator made in France to the hospital in Kostiantynivka

22.06.2020

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and SCM donated a high-quality ventilator Monnal T75 manufactured by Air Liquide Medical Systems SA (France) to Kostiantynivka Infectious Hospital in Donetsk Oblast.

"This is a tranche of the largest batch of ventilators brought to Ukraine since the beginning of the epidemic. 32 devices have been delivered to the country. They are distributed among the main hospitals in six oblasts. Rinat Akhmetov was the first to come to the rescue of the country in February. He combined the resources of the Charitable Foundation, FC Shakhtar and SCM businesses and allocated 300 million UAH to fight COVID-19 within the framework of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's project Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine. They are aimed at solving the most important medical needs of the country, set in coordination with the Ministry of Health: ranging from personal protective equipment for doctors to complex medical equipment for public hospitals that fight for lives," Natalya Yemchenko,  member of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation, said.

According to Oleksandr Vyshniakov, SCM representative, assisting the healthcare system has always been a priority for the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Especially these days.

"Coordinated by the regional operational headquarters that deals with the coronavirus situation, the Foundation systematically  provides hospitals with the necessary equipment, which has become scarce around the world," Oleksandr Vyshniakov said.

The Secretary of the Kostiantynivka City Council, Yuriy Rozumnyi, in his turn, expressed his gratitude for the help, noting its importance.

"The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is one of the quintessential examples, which shows how to work methodically and calmly to strengthen the material and technical resources of our health care. Thus, today we have a chance to witness at the transfer of high-quality, accurate and professional equipment that helps save lives," Yuriy Rozumnyi said.

According to the Chief Physician of the Infectious Hospital, Nadiya Sheichenko, this is not the first aid provided to the doctors of Kostiantynivka by Rinat Akhmetov:

"Your devices helped to relieve respiratory distress among our patients. We deeply appreciate the assistance the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provides with this high-end equipment and constant cooperation. When everything is done wholeheartedly, it yields some dividends."

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has already transferred two modern ventilators to Kostiantynivka Infectious Hospital. Deputy Head of the Health Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Maryna Kornieieva, noted that we can counter the threat Ukraine has to face with by combining our efforts.

"Coronavirus is a very serious challenge for the health system both of the state as a whole and Donetsk Oblast. The professionalism of medical staff plays a very important role when treating patients, as well as the availability of modern medical equipment. Ventilators are also among the top priorities. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provides the most extensive and unprecedented assistance in purchasing equipment and protective equipment. I would also like to honour the systematic approach the Foundation provides, since assistance is rendered not to one hospital but to medical institutions throughout the region," Maryna Kornieieva explained.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has been supporting medical professionals from Donetsk Oblast to cope with the challenge from the very beginning of the epidemic. Rapid tests and personal protective equipment and equipment for hospitals and laboratories are being transferred to the main hospitals in Mariupol, Selydove, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Volnovakha, Sloviansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and other cities of the mining region.

Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine is a large-scale project of the Foundation created to help save people's lives. It is implemented within the framework of the program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov launched 200 Ambulances for Ukraine, which was implemented as part of this program. Back then, all regional state medical institutions received 200 special vehicles with state-of-the-art military equipment that can get over off-road conditions within the record time of six months. Moreover, 22 vehicles equipped with ventilators for newborns were also delivered. This is the largest contribution made by one philanthropist to the state medicine of Ukraine since our country became independent. These days, many of these ambulances are involved in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
