MEP: The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation does an unbelievable job

05.02.2019

The European Parliament highly praised the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation’s efforts aimed to save civilians in the Donbas, Mark Demesmaeker, member of the European Parliament from Belgium said.

“The Foundation does an unbelievable job. Thanks to its team, people in the Donbas have survived. I was there in 2014 as part of the convoy delivering survival parcels. The delivery continued even under artillery fire!” Mr. Demesmaeker said.

According to the MEP, the most destitute categories of population in the east of Ukraine have found themselves on the brink of survival today. These are the elderly people, children and people with disabilities.

“The most horrible thing that could happen is that we may forget about these people. Over there, thousands have to survive near the confrontation line. Therefore, we need attention of the European Parliament focused on these people and their problem. We have to stay focused upon this conflict and its victims, civilians. They are our neighbors, too. We have to help them,” the MEP emphasized.

During a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation presented a unique exhibition, Donbas and Civilians devoted to civilians of Eastern Ukraine. The exhibition displays black-and-white collages from Donbas and Civilians photo book, color photographs of destroyed houses and their residents, videos featuring children of war who let it through their hearts.
