Energodar received modern lung ventilators from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

07.08.2020

On August 6, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation together with DTEK handed over three state-of-the-art artificial lung ventilators to the doctors of the specialized medical and sanitary department of Energodar.

- Hospitals in small localities are particularly in need of high-quality medical equipment. Therefore, a significant part of the 200 lung  ventilators purchased by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for public hospitals are transferred to such medical institutions. The medical and sanitary department of Energodar received three artificial ventilation devices at once. In total, 19 v lung  ventilators will be transferred to the Zaporishshia region, – Natalya Yemchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation said.

The First Deputy of the mayor of Energodar Ihor Kurdia thanked Rinat Akhmetov  Foundation for the support and noted that each city has its own history of struggle against coronavirus:

- Energodar also has this story. Unfortunately, we have 14 cases today, and a new wave, the second or third one - doctors can provide more precise information -is tarting. You need a friend's help when you need it. In April, we really needed tests – and the Foundation helped us with the purchase of tests. Today, the delivery of three modern ventilators to our medical and sanitary unit  is no less urgent. We are grateful to Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Zaporizhzhia TPP for the assistance they provide us.

The Director General of DTEK "Zaporizhzhia TPP" Serhii Shovhelia spoke about the social responsibility of SCM group businesses and recalled that Rinat Akhmetov's assistance in the fight against coronavirus was provided first even before the pandemic began:

- Energodar is the city of power engineers, where Zaporizhzhia TPP operates. Our employees and their families live here. And it is important for us to support the city, especially at this difficult time. Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation transferred 34 thousand rapid tests for diagnostics of coronavirus to Zaporizhzhia region. Now the region is beginning to receive equipment that saves lives – state-of-the-art ventilators. They are automated and largely exclude the human factor. They do not require complex setup. They can be used immediately, which is very important in an epidemic.

Sergey Serhii Shovhelia also presented the doctors working in the intensive care unit with medical clothing made by the Akhmetov Foundation on a special order individually for each doctor.

Director of the Health Department of Zaporizhzhia region Viktoriia Klymenko noted that Zaporizhzhia TPP and Rinat Akhmetov Foundation were the first to lend a helping hand to Energodar doctors when the coronavirus appeared in the country, giving local doctors personal protective equipment that could not be purchased because of the coronavirus. Now they were given  lug ventilators.

-Energodaris– a satellite town, a closed city. We are taking patients with covid to Dniprorudne, but they are here for the first day, and they will need these lung ventilators very much. Thank you very much, – Viktoriia Klymenko said.

Certificates were also awarded to participants of the online training organized by the Foundation together with the Ministry of Health and the Association of anesthesiologists of Ukraine.

- I am grateful to  Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for the opportunity to take online courses on coronavirus. And I would like to thank for lung  ventilators, which will be on the first line of the fight for the health and life of patients, -  doctor-anesthesiologist Yurii Zloiedov, one of the participants of the webinar said.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, modern ventilators from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation have been provided to public hospitals in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Ternopil, Rivne, Zakarpattia and Kharkiv regions, as well as in Kyiv.

"Fight against COVID-19 in Ukraine" is a large-scale project of the Foundation designed to help the country save lives. It is implemented under the program of the Foundation “Rinat Akhmetov – Saving live”. Earlier, by the personal decision of Rinat Akhmetov, the project "200 ambulances for Ukraine" was implemented as part of this program. Then, in a record-breaking six months, state medical institutions in all regions received 200 special vehicles with the most modern equipment that can overcome off-road conditions, including 22 vehicles with artificial ventilation devices for newborns. This is the largest contribution of one philanthropist to the state medicine of Ukraine since the independence of our country. Today, many of these ambulances are involved in the fight against the epidemic in all areas.
