Donetsk: Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center resumes the issuance of food products to lonely elderly people

08.02.2016

Today, on February 8, the volunteers of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center resume the delivery of food packages to the homes of elderly and disabled people living in Donetsk and the neighbouring towns. Three teams in Donetsk and three teams in Makiivka are currently making visits to these people.

"Our constant partners in address food delivery in non-government-controlled areas were volunteers from 'Responsible Citizens'. Since they have suspended their activity at the moment, we faced the lack of volunteers. We cannot leave elderly and disabled people without food. Many of them are lonely and can hardly move on their own, that is why our package is the only source of survival for them. The employees of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center made a prompt decision to form additional teams and continue delivering food", – Rimma Fil, the Coordinator of Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, commented the situation.

The teams of volunteers will be delivering aid in Donetsk and Makiivka every day. Till the end of the week it is planned to resume the trips to Torez, Snizhne and Shakhtarsk.

People visited by the Humanitarian Center's volunteers are civilians of the most vulnerable categories:

  • single disabled people of the 1st and the 2nd category, who cannot move on their own;
  • single severely ill persons, people who had operative interventions or complex chronic diseases that can be proved by documents;
  • single retired people older than 60, who cannot move on their own.

To have the food packages home delivered, please leave your application via the Humanitarian Center's hotline: 0800 509 001. You can see the rules for address delivery here.
