Bakhmut received a modern ventilator from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation
On Wednesday, Bakhmut Multi-Field Hospital Intensive Care Hospital received a high-end ventilator. It will be used to treat patients with severe COVID-19. Collaborative with SCM, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation transferred the equipment to the doctors. In total, the Foundation purchased 200 high-end ventilators for Ukrainian medical institutions.
"We have delivered 32 devices to Ukraine so far. This is the largest batch of ventilators brought to our country since the quarantine began. They will be distributed among the main state hospitals in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. Some of the devices will be given to small towns, such as Bakhmut," Natalya Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, said.
Mayor of Bakhmut, Oleksiy Reva, expressed his gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for its assistance.
"I am very pleased to be present at such an important and essential event. I want to express my gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and the Founder Rinat Akhmetov on behalf of the residents for this ventilator which is greatly necessary and required. This is the guarantee to save the lives of our employees and our citizens. And we think that our doctors will use this device to save hundreds, thousands of residents. I am convinced that the assistance provided by the sponsors, including the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, is our victory ticket in the fight against COVID-19 on the territory of the Bakhmut community. We highly appreciate this."
Svitlana Melnykova, Chief Doctor of Bakhmut Municipal Non-Commercial Enterprise Multi-Field Intensive Care Hospital, said that this is the first time Bakhmut has received this equipment:
"Our hospital is recognized as a basic institution to admit such patients. Thus, it is a big responsibility. We are obliged to provide high-quality medical care. To do this, we need qualified personnel and modern equipment. We have 25 ventilators, but they are midrange. I express my gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation on behalf of the entire team and all citizens for this gift. This device will help save lives.
Oleksandr Vyshniakov, SCM representative at the Donetsk Regional Headquarters that deals with the coronavirus situation, awarded online training and completion certificates to the doctors of Bakhmut Multi-Field Hospital, certifying their capacity to operate high-end ventilators. The training was conducted by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation jointly with the Ministry of Health and the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine. The first webinar was attended by more than 800 doctors from all over the country. In addition, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Foundation created training series "How ventilators work", which was viewed over 170,000 times.
"Rinat Akhmetov joined efforts of all businesses of SCM Group to help his homeland, his country and his countrymen. 300 million UAH he financed are saving the lives of doctors, children and adults. The Foundation delivered 100,000 rapid tests, a sample analyzer and personal protective equipment to Donetsk Oblast. Today we are transferring the equipment — ventilators — that saves lives," Oleksandr Vyshniakov said. He also said that all doctors in the intensive care unit will receive certificates for sets of healthcare clothing as a gift from the Foundation.
Director of the Health Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Volodymyr Kolesnyk, noted that doctors were in urgent need of equipment that was transferred by the Foundation.
"We are opening a new page in the cooperation between business and health by presenting these devices. Making such a gift, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation shows that responsible business not only creates jobs but also cares about the health of residents of our region and the whole of Ukraine. The hospital in Bakhmut is one of those hospitals that has already faced this disease. Patients with COVID-19 were and are provided treatment here. This equipment will contribute to overcoming the disaster that has overtaken the whole world. I express my gratitude to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Thank you very much!
Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine is a large-scale project of the Foundation created to help save people's lives. It is implemented within the framework of the program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. Earlier, Rinat Akhmetov launched 200 Ambulances for Ukraine, which was implemented as part of this program. Back then, all regional state medical institutions received 200 special vehicles with state-of-the-art military equipment that can get over off-road conditions within the record time of six months. Moreover, 22 vehicles equipped with ventilators for newborns were also delivered. This is the largest contribution made by one philanthropist to the state medicine of Ukraine since our country became independent. These days, many of these ambulances are involved in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
