02.12.2016

Today, on December 2, Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center completed the issuance of coal to Novohrodivka residents. 373 families received free fuel to heat their homes in the winter time.  The aid is aimed at retired and disabled miners of Novohrodivska mine #2 and also low-income and multi-child families of the town.

"For the third year in a row former miners do not get free coal due to changes in the law. And there is no gas and central heating in the town. People found themselves in distressful situation and asked for help. Rinat Akhmetov decided to provide targeted assistance not only for retired miners, but also low-income residents of Novohrodivka. Each family was allocated 2.95 tons of coal. During the month the Humanitarian Center delivered fuel to all recipients", ‒ Andrii Khvorostianko, Program and project manager at Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center, shares.

The family of retired Maria Koval had to heat their house with garbage and old stuff. "We were afraid we wouldn't make it through the winter. We used dry branches and everything we could. I didn't even dream of having coal this winter. But Rinat Akhmetov helped us. Many thanks for him", ‒ Maria expressed her gratitude.

"The coal is great, it burns really well. Pure coal, no waste. It's the first time we see such a high-quality coal. We are so grateful to Rinat Akhmetov for help. For paying attention to us, not forgetting his compatriots", ‒ Tetiana Fedorova, local resident, says.

The volume of humanitarian aid from Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center in Novohrodivka made 1,100 tons of coal.
