Ohmatdyt children’s hospital receives cutting-edge equipment from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

20.11.2024

On 19th November 2024, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provided the country’s leading children’s hospital, Ohmatdyt, with state-of-the-art equipment vital for treating paediatric trauma.

Andrii Myshchenko, Head of the Foundation’s Programmes and Projects, remarked: “Supporting the country’s main children’s hospital is an investment in the future and the health of our nation. On this 1000th day of the full-scale invasion, we are donating equipment that will allow young patients to recover more quickly. We will continue doing everything possible to ensure Ukrainian children have access to the most modern medical solutions, even during wartime.”

The equipment provided uses ultrasound technology to help securely bond bone fragments, particularly following facial and cranial injuries. Its self-absorbing implants eliminate the need for further surgery to remove them, making it an ideal solution for paediatric surgery.

This donation marks the third stage of the Foundation’s support for Ohmatdyt. Previously, the hospital received:

  • Two modern ambulances, which are already in use on emergency calls;
  • Ultrasound equipment to enhance diagnostic precision;
  •  A piezoelectric ultrasound device for complex bone surgeries.

The Foundation will continue to provide phased support to Ohmatdyt, offering crucial assistance.

For many years, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has supported medical institutions across Ukraine during times of crisis. In 2019, it launched the "200 Ambulances for Ukraine" initiative, the largest private charity project in the field of emergency medicine since Ukraine’s independence. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation also purchased and delivered over 200 ventilators to state hospitals, despite a global shortage of such equipment.

Since 2014, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has provided treatment and rehabilitation assistance to over 11,000 Ukrainians.
